United for the Love of Football

For most of the countries around the world, football is regarded as a religion with the relationship between fan and football transcending more than just sports with their love for the game. It’s “an uncontrollable passion,” as former captain of the Philippine National Football Team Freddy Gonzalez would say, that ignites a unique passion that drives fans to exuberant celebration. A passion that started with a spherical leather ball and has been passed on from generation to generation, fan to fan, and foot to foot.

Havaianas Teams Collection

In true support of football this season, Brazil’s well-loved flip-flops brand, Havaianas, spreads the football love by coming out with a limited edition Team Havaianas Collection – a special set of flip-flops that celebrate the sport’s greatest teams and invite aficionados to pledge their allegiance in true fashion. With a roster of 16 countries, this assortment features designs of the world’s most iconic football national teams, led by the powerhouses: Brazil, Spain, Argentina, France, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, and Portugal, among others. And with Havaianas being true to its Brazilian roots, the collection also features two new Brazil Slim styles as a tribute to its motherland.

For PHP 1145, channel the pride of these nations with their symbolic styles that are true to their respective countries. More importantly, a portion of the sales from the Team Havaianas Collection goes to the Field of Hope, a long-term advocacy program that was started by Futkalero Pedro (Futkal founder Peter Amores) to rehabilitate communities that were affected by Typhoon Haiyan, using football as a tool for social change and development. The project specifically aims to help the children recover from the trauma, rebuild their lives, and put them on the road to a brighter future through football programs. Futkalero Pedro invites people to “have a taste of the beautiful game outside the pitch. It’s not just a game, it’s a way of life.”
