Topshop Autumn/Winter 2012

Here’s a Band Camp you won’t forget… Borrowing from the boys, androgynous oversized outerwear is stamped with girlish approval, as dainty frills and ditsy florals allow for a flirtatious ruffle with sartorial rebellion. Delicate lace midis are layered with boyish separates to strike the perfect dose of anarchy, while rhinestone detailing and faded denim add a Western vibe. At Topshop’s Band Camp, anything goes – so embrace your boy/girl tendencies and mix it up!

Inspired by one of fashion’s favourite eras, this AW12 we’re embracing the beehive and swinging into the new season 60s style. Loose monochrome knits clash with tartan skinnies for androgynous mod appeal, while feminine boucle twin sets will bring out the screen siren in you. Oversized buttons, preppy satchels and traditional dogtooth prints bring attention to detail, setting off classic boyish crombies and simple roll-neck sweaters. For the ultimate finish, flash bare legs and a slick of heavy eyeliner – Edie Sedgwick, eat your heart out!

When autumn winds leave your cheeks flushed and your noses cold, wrap up with the cosy textures of Scandi Girl. Soft shearlings and fluffy faux fur layer with autumnal florals and loose knits in ice-pale shades and Fair Isle patterns. Pinafore dresses are easily paired with buttoned-up shirts and sweaters for simple Nordic style. Sumptuous separates in rich berry colours and black velvet are adorned with traditional embroidery and heritage detailing, while vintage style denim, essential ankle boots and braided hair complete the rosy-cheeked look.

Prepare to spellbind this AW12. For Topshop’s Sensationalist, the only way is to shine. Jewel-encrusted utilitarian shirts are tucked into metallic snakeskin tailoring to create the ultimate high-low ensemble, while stud-embellishment adds intrigue to an all black canvas. Fringed dresses meet patent knee-highs for daring dominatrix appeal and sequin party wear ensures the festive season goes off to a shimmering start. It’s time to emerge out of the darkness – think moody, dark romance: a little gothic and very rock ‘n’ roll.
